Deeds and other papers of the Scollay family of Boston, in particular John and William Scollay. Deeds to and from the Scollays for lands in Boston include those for the area known as Scollay Square. Papers of related Whitwell and Melville families include those of William Whitwell and John Melville, the latter related to his land interests in Cumberland, N.S. Also included is the personal account book of William Scollay (1808-10) and correspondence with Catherine (Whitwell) Scollay (Mrs. William) and Jacob Bigelow regarding the Scollay Building. Other correspondents include Charles P. Curtis and Joshua Winslow.
